From Halloween, Thanksgiving and Hanukkah to Christmas and New Year’s Eve, fall and winter offer a variety of reasons to celebrate and awardwinning Defiant Whisky is the perfect spirit for both seasons. Whether neat is the only acceptable way to serve it, or some holiday pizzazz is in order, here are a few recipes to impress guests with style, class and premium single-malt whisky made with only four ingredients right in the heart of Western North Carolina.

Defiantly Chocolate Martini
This drink is for the ultimate chocolate-lover in need of a fix. Rich and decadent, this bold little number is topped off nicely with white chocolate and raspberry garnishes.

  • 2 oz Defiant Whisky
  • 1 oz Godiva Chocolate Liqueur
  • 1 oz Crème De Cocoa
  • Ice
  • Chocolate Sauce
  • White Chocolate Shavings
  • Fresh Raspberries

Drizzle chocolate sauce inside the martini glass and along the rim. Add Godiva chocolate liqueur, Creme De Cocoa and Defiant Whisky over ice in a shaker. Shake for a few seconds. Pour into the martini glass over the chocolate sauce. Garnish with white chocolate shavings and fresh raspberries.

The Gold Rush
Born in the Golden Valley of Bostic, N.C., The Gold Rush blends tradition and sweetness to complement or even replace dessert and satisfy a sweet tooth.

  • 2 oz Defiant Whisky
  • ¾ ounce lemon juice
  • 1 ounce honey simple syrup
  • Add ice if desired

Combine all ingredients and stir gently. Add ice and toast the night away.

Defiant Apple Cider
Fall is symbolic of apples and cider, so combine both with a serving of Defiant Whisky and kick the season off in style. This transition drink can be served on the rocks or hot, likely depending on how the weather is affecting one’s mood.

  • 1.5 ounces of Defiant Whisky
  • 1.5 cups local apple cider
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • Dash of powered ginger

Heat cider and cinnamon stick in a saucepan on low for seven minutes – do not boil. Add powdered ginger and stir; then pour the mixture into a cup or mug and add Defiant

The Neat
For guests who value all things pure and simple, especially whisky, Defiant’s favorite recipe is the way whisky was intended to be consumed: neatly.

  • Pour two fingers of whisky in a snifter glass.
  • Add ice if desired.

Combine your favorite eggnog, whole milk, and pumpkin puree with the Defiant and serve chilled or over ice.
